About

I’m Midnight, founder of Daydream Cinema, an autistic-owned film exhibition organisation focusing on accessible screenings, events and programming opportunities for neurodivergent and disabled people.

Photo of Midnight a non binary white person with a short orange bob and wearing a sky blue and white top, smiling for the camera.

I have worked in the film exhibition sector for around 20 years, developing knowledge and experience in cinema access, operations, marketing, projection and programming.

I have many years experience working Front of House in arts organisations and cinemas. This helps me to understand the broader intersectional barriers audiences face in attending venues and the barriers employees face in these work settings.

I use this experience, and my own as a multiply neurodivergent and disabled person and carer for other disabled people, to inform my work.

What We Do

Daydream Cinema creates and supports accessible cinema screenings and film clubs for neurodivergent and disabled audiences.

Our screenings are rooted in the concept of Relaxed Screenings but can include a wide range of accessible and bespoke features.

Daydream Cinema Relaxed Cinema Project

Daydream Cinemas’ Relaxed Cinema project helps cinemas in the North of England build their confidence to run inclusive film screenings that are accessible for Disabled and/or Neurodivergent audiences.

  • We currently work with ARC Stockton Arts Centre, The Customs House, Brewery Arts Centre, Gala Durham and Forum Cinema Hexham

Free Mentoring Sessions: Are you a Film Hub North member looking to enhance accessibility and confidently run and/or develop work on Relaxed Screenings for neurodivergent audiences?

We are offering free mentoring sessions to help you achieve these goals and develop venue-wide measures to welcome disabled and neurodivergent audiences to your cinema. Contact us at contactdaydreamcinema[at]gmail.com to find out more and/or express your interest.

Work with us!

Contact us at contactdaydreamcinema[at]gmail.com if you are an organisation who would like to work with Daydream Cinema. We can offer:

Daydream Cinema Screenings are public events curated and organised by Daydream Cinema. We can also work with our Cinema Club members; helping participants learn to exhibit films and develop their transferable skills, experiences and self-confidence.

Daydream Cinema Clubs develop social opportunities and support mental health and wellbeing for disabled people through regular community film screenings. Get in touch if you would like to work with us to set up a cinema club with your organisation.

Daydream Cinema Experiences support individuals and small groups who cannot access public screenings due to their support needs to see films on the big screen.

Daydream Cinema Support helps exhibitors develop the accessibility of their offer and infrastructure through training and mentoring, marketing support, film programming and event curation.

accessibility at your venue or want to organise a Daydream Cinema Club or Screening in your community.
